It’s nice to write of a positive experience once again. Not long ago I received an e-mail from a translation company, asking if I could rewrite things and if so, how much would I charge. It was from a translation company that was about to open a new branch and needed to rewrite its website for the new location. I wrote back and gave details of my standard rates. Soon, the letter came, asking me to do the job and I pasted the material into Word and began to think of how to say the same things using different words. When I was finished I sent it all back to him and he paid me more than double my offered rate. His name is Adam Zhang and the company is Star Translation. He is an ethical man and reminds me that in spite of my sensitivity to the unethical behaviour to be found at all levels in Chinese society I must not ignore the fact that there are good guys out there too. Adam is a good man who has built a fair dealing company and I wish him all the success he deserves.
